A position has arisen with our Client in their R&D lab for a R&D Technical Manager. The role involves formulating brush applied coatings primarily for the DIY, Ecom & Professional markets in the UK & Europe. Our Client is looking for candidate with experience formulating water-based coatings to focus on high end interior and exterior wall coatings.

About the Role:

•    To be responsible for the management and development of the laboratory function in line with the company expectations.

•    Line manage a small team of R&D staff.

•    To drive R&D from idea generation to project completion.

•    Customer technical support from time to time when required.

•    Regular reporting of R&D activity to senior management.

•    To be commercially aware and be able to focus on goals that will support the business strategy while leading their team to do the same.

•    Effective communication with others inside and outside of the business, assisting with technical problem solving.

Candidate Profile:

•    Experience and understanding of coatings formulation (water-based).

•    An interest in applied R&D with a practical, pragmatic, and hands-on approach.

•    Ability to organise and prioritise project work.

•    Self-motivated and independent.

•    Background knowledge in Chemistry, ideally a Degree in Chemistry.

•    Flexibility to work in an environment where response to urgent and unplanned demands.

•    An analytical approach to problem solving.

•    Good communication skills (written and verbal).
