Our client is looking for a Technical Manager to lead and manage the Protective Coatings R&D team, to strategically drive innovation, and ensure the successful development and implementation of new coating technologies and products. This position is based in Australia.
About the Role:
- Develop and execute the Protective Coatings (PC) research and development roadmap and innovation pipeline that supports the overall PC strategy, ensuring it is linked to market trends and consumer insight.
- Ensure the team is developing strong technical, statistical and formulation science capabilities to drive leading edge innovation.
- Work closely with marketing, operations, and procurement to commercialise new and compliant formulations and technologies, to deliver the PC New Product Development plan.
- Lead the development and introduction of innovative new products, product refinements that provide competitive advantage.
- Ensure new product plans meet agreed project and stage-gate timelines.
- Manage troubleshooting of formula/production/application issues and ensure the risks of any potential product failures are minimised.
- Ensure that products consistently meet end user performance and quality expectations by working closely with Supply Chain and Production sites.
About You:
- BSc Degree with 15 years + experience or PhD with at least 7 years of experience in an appropriate scientific or formulation role.
- Ideally previous industrial experience in the protective coatings, or related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and motivate others toward clear objectives.
- Proven track record of New Product Development.
- A comprehensive understanding of industry practices and standards with respect to protective coatings and corrosion management.
Our client is offering a salary in the region of 180-200,000 AUD and a 20% bonus.
